First Week - The Road Less Traveled

First Week

Pre AP

This week we began looking at the number system, and how to compare rational numbers. We have seen that there are many different kinds of numbers, and that they appear in various forms. One of the newest ones for you to see and work with are the square roots. Check out the media section for notes on squares and square roots. This will help you complete your homework over the weekend.

First period - Don't forget! I want you to have an index card helping us work with our vocabulary. It must have:
  •  Your choice of one of the vocabulary words from the number system part of our first unit packet.
  • A definition in your own words.
  • An example of the word you are defining.
  • A non-example.
  • A visual representation, or a drawing. This should not include numbers. I want you to visualize what you are talking about. Be creative! What makes sense to you?
Second and Third Period - Complete the table in your unit packet. Check the boxes for each category that the number fits into. Check the media section for some extra help. Especially with squares and square roots.

Algebra

This work we mainly worked on using algebraic properties to better understand how to rearrange and evaluate expressions. Soon this will help us solve equations. I hope over the course of the next 2 days you have time to finish the practice I assigned. Some of you only need to finish a couple of questions.

Use this website and any other resources you find on the internet to help you if you are having trouble,
